You Can Make Games - Issue 01 - October 2021

ABOUT:
This is a zine about making video games and how you can do it! I made this after I fell in love with alienmelon's Electric Zine Maker and couldn't find any zines on Itch about game design. My hope is that you'll read this zine and leave with the confidence to make your own games (if you haven't already). Please feel free to share this with your friends as well!

In addition to creating my zine, I am also publicly releasing Version 4.0 of my huge Game Design Resources document, which has tons of links to help you find game engines, creative software, and just general places that will spark your imagination! I'll hope you'll download it and give it a look as well! I used to only give this out when I was giving game design talks at various conventions, but several people have asked it to be placed online for convenience and I heartily agree! (Also it's grown from 1 page to over 20, wow! So by downloading, you save trees and learn cool stuff!)

DONATIONS WELCOME:
As of this release, I'm currently unemployed and have been looking for work for over a year now. I've found some odd jobs, but I'm currently trying to make independent game development a reality for myself. FUTURE ISSUES:
I'm hoping to dive deeper into specific aspects of game design in future issues or provide some basic game making tutorials for various game engines.
